Member Registration

Welcome Cyclists!

Anyone wishing to participate in a club ride must be registered with ABA and Highwood Cycling Club, however first rides are complimentary. We offer one time try outs for free, but you must download and sign either the ABA adult waiver or the ABA Under the age of majority waiver.  Please email your completed waiver to highwoodcycling@gmail.com prior to the ride

DIRECT LINK – 2024 MEMBERSHIP

For new and returning Highwood Cycling Members, you can purchase your 2024 membership online through Zone 4 (direct link just above). If you do not intend to race, you will need a General Membership License $45. If you intend to take part in competitive racing then you will require a racing license.  Costs range from $118 to $172 depending upon your age category.

General membership does not require a photo for your license.

You will need to complete all waivers including the anti doping – yes this seems a bit overkill for those wanting to simply ride their bike on a Tuesday evening around Okotoks, but unfortunately this is an ABA/Cycling Canada requirement.

Please Note: The process of registering is slightly different than in previous years and may seem a little confusing at first. We of course do not want this to hinder anyone so if you have any issues registering for your membership, please email us at highwoodcycling@gmail.com and we would be more than happy to provide any necessary assistance.

A Few Reminders:

A minimum level of fitness will be expected.  We welcome everyone but also want everyone to have a safe and encouraging first ride.  There are suggested range of paces posted on each of the club rides.

Tail lights are mandatory on ALL club rides and head lights are encouraged, especially in the early and late seasons, as it gets dark much earlier than in the summer months. We often use headlights for daylight riding.  Remember the old days when cars didn’t have automatic daylight headlights?  There’s a reason why vehicle manufacturers were mandated to make all vehicles have headlights on when in drive.  SAME WITH BIKES. Be safe!

You do not have to live in Okotoks to become a member. Even though the club is based in Okotoks, Many of our members come from South Calgary as well as neighboring communities such as Black Diamond, Longview and High River.

You will experience new roads, probably sweat a bit and meet fun people. Riding with the club is a great way to get to know your local back roads. Many of us wouldn’t have any friends if it wasn’t for HCC.  We’re not joking about this!  Seriously good people belong to this club.

Here are our HCC Ride Guidelines. They are wordy, but necessary. Please take the time to read through them. It’s your responsibility. Thank-you!
