Our Weekly Rides

Rides and Ride Groups for 2025

For 2025, we will keep the same weekly ride format as the last couple of years. Breaking into groups A, B and C (see description below) years has proven to be quite popular amongst members, so we’ll continue with this format going into the new season. The difference is that Tuesday and Thursday nights will no longer be designated as Social or Hammer rides. They will simply be HCC group rides and on both nights, members will have the opportunity to choose if they want to ride A, B or C pacing. This means that if you want to ride at more of a leisure or moderate pace, it can be accommodated on both nights, as can a faster pace tempo or hammer ride.

* All ride routes will be posted on Strava ahead of time.

Group A average (fast) 28-30++ kph

Group B average (intermediate) 25-28 kph

Group C average (easy pace) 22-25 kph – a minimum level of fitness is required.  Please expect to ride at minimum 60 minutes at the start of the season. Please note:  Road e-bikes and gravel bikes are welcome as long as they follow the HCC bike standard rules of drop bars and clip pedals.

Ride Safety and Compliance

Please note that to comply with the ABA’s risk management practices, all clubs must undertake reasonable safety measures to safeguard all members. These include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Each approved club activity (ride) will have a ride leader who is familiar with the route.
  • The ride leader must have a means (e.g. mobile phone) to contact emergency services if necessary and sufficient knowledge of the area to direct emergency personnel to the incident location.
  • The ride leader must carry a small kit of first aid supplies. The kit should contain things such as band-aids, wipes and latex gloves to treat minor wounds when required.
