Making Alberta Roads Safer for Cyclists

The Alberta Cycling Coalition is a like-minded group of organizations and individuals seeking to Make Alberta Roads Safer for Cyclists and they need our support.  They have 3 key recommendations to modify the Alberta Traffic Safety Act:

  • Require safe passing distance of one metre, and 1.5m at speeds greater than 60km/h
  • Allow two abreast riding, when not impeding reasonable flow of traffic
  • Cyclists to ride as far to the right as is safe, versus as is practicable

Repurpose Party – Monday, July 22

Join us for HCC’s first REPURPOSE PARTY.

It’s time to REPURPOSE so dig out all things “bike-like”, grab your folding table and bring over to Ross & Sonya’s garage. We’re taking components, kits, pedals, tires, bells and whistles. Please price ahead of time.

Todd Martin, HCC member and founder of ReCycle Okotoks, will be on hand to provide information about his local bike-focused charity. Donations will be accepted (bikes & bits – no cash please).

Even though this is a Monday, this is also a PARTY. Feel free to bring your own bevies and a snack to share.

Contest Time! Draw on Sunday, June 9, 2019

Contest time! Thanks to the good folks at Ridley’s Cycle, HCC has TWO entries to the inaugural Chinook Gran Fondo on Saturday, June 15. Three distances to choose from. Each entry is valued up to $240 and one can be yours! All you have to do is

(1) be a HCC member and

(2) let us know what was the last thing you bought at Ridley’s. You just have to leave a comment on Facebook or Instagram post.

On Sunday night, we will throw all the names in a draw and announce the winner. Good luck, everyone!
